If you would like to make money online, there are many great freelance sites available where you’ll be able to sell your skills. This is often great news for the most part but can be a bit confusing when choosing which platform is correct for you. in this post, we’re going to compare two very different freelance sites: Upwork and Fiverr.
Who is a Freelancer?
Essentially, a contract job is one where an individual works for themselves, instead of for a corporation. While freelancers do take on contract work for companies and organizations, they’re ultimately self-employed.
What is Fiverr?
Fiverr is an Israeli online marketplace for freelance services. The company provides a platform for freelancers to offer low-cost services to customers worldwide.Â
Fiverr is most friendly for beginners. Fiverr works by letting buyers pay beforehand for “gigs” which are any sort of freelance service, starting from web design to social media marketing, to copywriting. When Fiverr first launched, all gigs were originally priced at $5, but now freelance sellers can plan to charge more or offer packages of services. Orders are typically completed within each day or two, but the delivery time is about by the vendor and may take longer if the vendor features a queue of orders. When your order is successfully completed, the vendor will receive 80% of the entire order value. for instance , a $5 gig means the freelancer will receive $4 for a completed order.
What is Upwork?
Upwork, formerly Elance-oDesk, is an American freelancing platform where enterprises and individuals connect so as to conduct business. In 2015, the Elance-oDesk merger was rebranded as Upwork and therefore the company’s full name is now Upwork Global Inc.
Upwork has more skilled professionals. Interested freelancers submit proposals for projects. After receiving job proposals client discusses the project details with the chosen freelancers. If the client is impressed by the freelancer in terms of quality, commitments, suggestions, timing, price, and experiences then he/she will hire you for this work. The quality of work and professionalism between client and freelancer is that the key to successful results.
If clients want to create a 5 pages website, logo, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, etc. during a $300 budget within 3 weeks. Clients can hire freelancers at fixed and fast price or hourly. Then he/she post a project or job on freelancing platforms e.g. Upwork.

My Personal opinion
I’ve been working as a freelancer for more than three years now. I provide Admin Support and Digital Marketing skills on both platforms. My personal best is Fiverr. Because Once our Gigs was created there is no necessary need to change it or delete it. Even the Fiverr algorithm works for every freelancer in this portal. The search results change every day for searching clients. Beginner freelancers can create up to 7 gigs to promote their digital skills. Now I’m a level 2 seller on Fiverr. Upwork is also great for long-term hourly projects. Service fees will be reduced if you charged over 500$ from each client. I’m a Top-rated freelancer on Upwork as well.Â
As a Freelancer or Client, Which will do you recommend? Let me know in the comments.
